Physical Education

 

Tom Hardie has 37 years experience in Physical Education. He has been extensively involved in National Qualification Curriculum design, National Assessment Quality Assurance and in National Staff Development.
He has a great deal of experience in co-ordinating and delivering National Conferences and Seminars as well as producing a wide range of support materials for both sta and pupils.

Tom has a huge experience in working in many roles with the SQA. He is currently Principal Assessor for both Higher and Advanced Higher Physical Education as well as being Senior verifier. In his role he has been responsible for the management of these National Courses in terms of setting National Exams as well as ensuring quality assurance. He was a co- author for Leckie and Leckie and wrote books on a Success Guide for the current Higher, examplar questions and answers for sta and candidates as well as a Support Book for S1-S3 Curriculum for Excellence.

Most recently he has been involved in developing the new Higher and Advanced Higher for Physical Education

Preparing a prelim for Higher Physical Education

This event gives teachers an opportunity to prepare questions of a standard similar to those met in the SQA exams.
Questions generated will be dissected and shared to be used as part of ongoing work, giving practice in various
elements of the curriculum, or to prepare a prelim paper reliable for appeal purposes.

The course is designed to give teachers opportunities to:

• discuss standards and arrangements
• agree a set of criteria for higher ability and problem solving examples
• write prelim-standard questions either alone or in collaboration with others
